Here are seven ways you can upgrade your home without spending much money.

Whether you’re considering selling your home in the near future or just want to update your home for your own personal use, these are some ways to do that without breaking the bank:

1. Replace your lighting. Taking the existing brass lighting and replacing it with more modern fixtures will make an instant update both inside your house and outside the front door.

2. Cabinet handles. Replacing the existing brass knobs with more modern knobs will also make an instant statement.

3. Bathroom mirrors and faucets. It’s easy to replace the old bathroom wall mirrors. You can put custom-framed mirrors up, you can build a trim around the existing wall mirror, or you can use a company called Mirrormate that does it for you. Replacing the faucets is another no-brainer. They should match the lighting that you have.

4. Painting. Using a neutral color will make the molding pop. I would recommend that you take down any old existing electronics or intercoms that look dated before you paint.

5. Landscaping. Curb appeal is a big deal, so having your bushes trimmed and planting some flowers also goes a long way.

6. Countertops. These can be a little bit more expensive. If you were selling your home, buyers prefer quartz, but there are other alternatives if you’re looking to live there and just want something nicer. Granite would be fine for that purpose.

7. Flooring. This can also be a bit pricey. Buyers prefer hardwood floors, however you could shop around and look for other alternatives such as luxury vinyl plank.
